TETRA INDUSTRY RECOGNISES MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS Author: Richard Bennett

Created Feb 28 2014, 6:00 AM by Paul Jeffs

AWARD FOR INNOVATION. It’s nice to get recognition in any walk of life, including business and industry, but when it’s from your peers – your customers, partners and suppliers within your own industry it’s particularly special. And that is just what happened to Motorola Solutions at the recent International TETRA Awards in London.

According to the TETRA Awards the MTP6750 and PICS solution:
“…stands apart for creating a simple to use image management system that enables public safety organisations to realise the operational benefits of photographic intelligence, in terms of making front line policing more effective, while minimizing the administrative overheads of managing large volumes of images and minimizing the risks of breaching data protection and privacy laws. Judges commended it as a solution with practical value to frontline officers.” (http://www.tetra-awards.com/node/151)

As well as the innovation award, together with its customer Queensland Gas Cooperation (QGC), Motorola Solutions won the category "Best Use of TETRA in Utilities" for one of the largest TETRA digital radio networks in Australia.

Taking over two years to complete, this is now one of the largest TETRA wireless networks in Australia. The evolving data capabilities of the digital technology have enabled QGC to use the TETRA network for all of its critical communications in the field. One Judge said “This large TETRA installation featuring intrinsically- safe radios is a critical safety element in a major Australian gas supply network”.

Motorola was also listed as a finalist in the innovation category for “Making Bluetooth relevant and appropriate for mission and business critical users” and in the Green TETRA Award for the ‘MTS1 Solar and Wind Power’.

Not a bad haul for a Friday night in London:

  • Best TETRA Innovation - MTP6750 TETRA radio and the Photograph and Intelligence Communication System
  • Best use of TETRA in Utilities - Next-Generation TETRA Radio Network to Provide Project Infrastructure Communications
  • Best TETRA Innovation Finalist - Making Bluetooth relevant and appropriate for mission and business critical users
  • Green TETRA Award Finalist - MTS1 solar and wind power
