TETRA TODAY CTO INTERVIEW – Technology’s long arm of the law

NEWS. Paul Steinberg, senior vice president, CTO, Motorola Solutions, recently gave an interview with TETRA Today. Paul discusses how technology is changing the operational landscape of public safety, especially law enforcement.

Paul talks about the priorities for Public Safety agencies “Whilst the priorities for public safety agencies have remained constant – safety, efficiency and effectiveness that offer the best outcomes for society – it is the challenges faced that Steinberg believes are transforming the potential for public safety communication. In particular, he identifies broadband as both a disruptive and enabling technology.”

And globally “Globally, Steinberg believes that public safety and law enforcement agencies are showing the ability and resilience to be able to react to and embrace the rapid rise of technology. “Public safety is becoming aware of the velocity of change and showing increased flexibility and application for technology and they continue to adapt accordingly.””

On the transition to broadband “We (Motorola) have within our product roadmaps a range of integrated broadband on land mobile radio products and applications. We want the transition to these to be as seamless, as collaborative and intuitive as possible, allowing for both technologies to be intelligently integrated and deployed as the case may be.”
