A call to 9-1-1, or an attempt to run away could prompt a hostile reaction from him. Instead she changes course walks past the parking garage and pretends she's looking for her ride while sending a text to 9-1-1 for help.

Along with her location information, she adds a description of her husband and the fact that she has a restraining order against him. With the detailed information, dispatchers send help and officers know exactly where to find her and how to approach the area for her safety and theirs.

Next generation emergency call network architectures will differ extensively from today’s systems.

As envisioned by NENA, an NG9-1-1 system employing an ESInet-based architecture will use IP-based “network of networks” shared by all agencies — locally, regionally and nationally.
