Creating a connected city on a golf course
Spanning over 500 acres, Bethpage Black was transformed into what is believed to be the largest single-site sports event construction in history. Its vast expanse included natural terrain, spectator hills and numerous temporary structures - from seating and hospitality tents to merchandise centers.
A powerful public-private partnership
Security should enhance, not interrupt, a world-class event. Our goal was to achieve an exceptional level of safety that remained discreet and fully supportive of the spectator and player experience. Through a unified public-private partnership (PPP) - a collaborative effort between the PGA of America (PGAA), Ryder Cup Europe and supporting public safety agencies - we ensured every security measure was fully coordinated and executed with maximum efficiency and minimal visibility.
Ensuring mission-critical connectivity
Motorola Solutions’ technology ecosystem ensured seamless communication, visual awareness and data flow across 10 public safety agencies assigned to the event, EMS personnel, private security and the hundreds of PGAA operational staff present on site.
Video security, AI-powered Command Center software and secure radio technology provided critical voice communication, and visual and situational awareness throughout the event.
Installed across key venue locations including main entry and exit gates, retail shops, food and beverage areas and fan zones, AI-enabled cameras detected unusual objects or activity. This provided a steady stream of real-time insights to law enforcement and operational staff.
