PRIVACY: Our Commitments to You About Your Data

At Motorola Solutions, we recognize that our customers’ data can be their most valuable asset, essential to mission critical operations. In order to protect the privacy rights and freedoms of individuals, Motorola Solutions adheres to privacy principles and promotes ethical data management. You can expect transparency and accountability when it comes to our shared responsibility for protecting and managing your data. Information security and privacy practices across Motorola Solutions are now ISO-certified. Learn more about Motorola Solutions ISO certification status on the Compliance page.

1. You Own and Control Your Data

Our approach to privacy is grounded in our commitment to give you control over the collection, use, and distribution of your data.

 2. Our Products and Services are Designed to Support Your Compliance Obligations

Our products and services are designed with secure engineering and privacy-by-design practices to protect your data and to assist and support your compliance obligations. Motorola Solutions is committed to continuous development and enhancement of its products and services to ensure customers can meet privacy obligations to their communities and regulatory environments.

3. Partnering With Trusted Cloud Providers

Protecting your data requires control over who has access. That is why Motorola Solutions works with Microsoft and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to provide trusted cloud services to ensure that whenever possible, your data is stored in data centers located in the nation of your choice, with appropriate logging, employee screening and incident response practices

4. Notification of Government Requests for Data

We understand your need to safeguard the privacy of your data. Therefore, in the event that we are served with a Judicial or Executive Order to surrender your data, to the extent allowable by law, we will work collaboratively with you. If allowable, we will provide you with notice of receipt of the Order to provide you sufficient time to seek relief from the Order in the relevant jurisdiction. Additionally, when we receive the Order, we will evaluate its propriety and decide whether to challenge the Order ourselves or comply. We will notify you of our decisions promptly, when allowed, so that you may determine if you intend to take any action yourself. In all circumstances, we retain the right to comply with applicable law.

5. We Support Your Data Subject Requests

In some jurisdictions, individuals may have certain rights with respect to your processing of personal information. You may need to respond to requests to access, rectify, restrict processing, delete, port or export personal information (see, for example, the Law Enforcement Directive and General Data Protection Regulation).

We will work with you to respond to all legally required requests. We will either provide you with the tools necessary for you to respond to individuals or assist you in taking necessary actions to fulfill these requests. We will also work with our suppliers such as Microsoft Azure so they are prepared to help you respond to data subject requests (see https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/trust-center/privacy/gdpr-dsr and https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/compliance/gdpr-dsr-azure).

If we receive any requests directly from an individual whose personal data is processed by us on your behalf, we will forward the request to you for response. We will not directly respond to requests from individuals unless it is within the scope of work we have agreed to perform for you or unless we are required to do so under applicable laws or regulations.

6. We Will Support Required Data Protection Impact Assessment and Audits

You may be required to perform a Data Privacy Impact Assessment (DPIA) or Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) for your processing of personal information. For example, in the European Union, the Law Enforcement Directive and the General Data Protection Regulation both require such assessments. Further, we understand that you may undergo audits, such as by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in connection with your Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy compliance. We are here to assist and support you in such audit efforts.

We are ready to assist you by providing the information necessary for you to complete your legally required DPIAs or PIAs. You may reach out to us at privacy1@motorolasolutions.com with your questions or requests for assistance.
