Motorola Solutions has signed a managed services contract with the German power grid operator EWR Netz GmbH – ensuring reliable and secure operations of future-proof technology and communications infrastructure. The comprehensive agreement is our largest contract with a utility company in Europe or Africa. We will install, run and maintain EWR Netz GmbH’s radio network, provide technical support as well as hardware and software updates during a five-year period.
EWR Netz GmbH can rely on a consistent and robust service level agreement with transparent fixed operating costs, eliminating the need to manage network complexity, hardware and software upgrades. We will also conduct a refresh of the existing operator infrastructure with the latest hardware and software update of our Dimetra IP Compact platform.
This new contract is a further milestone in our longstanding collaboration with the grid operator: EWR Netz GmbH has been successfully using our TETRA infrastructure since 2007 to provide a secure and independent communication platform for its employees. The TETRA system is based on a Dimetra IP Compact platform with 37 antenna sites, Dimetra IP switches and MTP850 TETRA terminals.
We have also expanded their TETRA infrastructure to a smart metering solution with a potential smart grid application in the future. Moving forward into the future, Johannes Krämer, CEO of EWR Netz GmbH, is really pleased about the new agreement: “Signing the managed services contract was very crucial for us to ensure that our mission-critical systems are always available. We do not have to worry about complexity and system upgrades anymore.”
