Celebrating 90 Years of Innovation

No one could have imagined that the car radio company founded by Paul Galvin in 1928 would one day become the leading provider of mission-critical communications and video surveillance solutions for public safety and commercial customers. And in today’s dynamic business environment, 90 years is a milestone few companies reach. The Motorola Solutions team is honored to share this incredible moment with our customers and partners around the world.

For the past 90 years, we have delivered the essential lines of communication to ensure first responders and businesses around the world work safely and effectively. Our drive for continuous innovation and partnership enables our customers to be ready – whenever and wherever the moment arrives.

We are a company driven by innovation and we take our responsibility seriously to design and deliver technologies that people refer to as their lifeline. That’s how we know we are living up to our company purpose: to help people be their best in the moments that matter.

As we look ahead to our next 90 years, the moments will change and the people will change, but our passion, insatiable curiosity and relentless pursuit of excellence will remain constant. We will continue to create the future of mission-critical communications, video surveillance and analytics, services and software  – we will never stop advancing the lifeline.

Our Employees Make Every Moment Matter

Every day, our employees make contributions, big and small, that matter today and shape our future. We attract the brightest minds to our team to support our customers who keep cities safe and businesses thriving. Our employees make the critical difference.

Leadership Support

“This year, we had more than 100 interns attend the internship program orientation in Chicago. I learned Mark Hacker, executive vice president, general counsel and chief administrative officer, was hosting a leadership meeting on the same day. Thinking about how cool it would be to have the leadership team drop by to welcome the interns, I contacted Mark’s team to inquire. Sure enough, Mark and his entire leadership team stopped by the Innovation Center the morning of orientation to warmly welcome the students. This was not part of their jam-packed agenda, but they took time to spend time with our interns. That was a moment that mattered.”

Providing Reliable Communications

“Being a Motorolan means providing reliable communications to customers, whether it’s getting a food order across, checking for inventory, making sure the electricity is up and running or protecting civilians. I'm privileged to have been a R&D engineer who designed products that met the highest standards, a product manager who delivered our products to the market on time, and now, a channel enablement manager who stands in the eyes of our customers delivering reassurance. But it is really about what we do collectively that brings the best to our customers in their moments that matter.”

Embracing Differences

“At the 2017 leadership meeting, I was given an opportunity to present to my peers on our personality types. It was an insightful lesson that provided perspective on different types of leadership and approaches to problem-solving. Leadership comes in many different sizes and colors. It is wonderful to work at a company that embraces differences.”

Vice President, CAO Operations and Talent Acquisition

Volunteering to Make a Difference

“In December 2017, I had the opportunity to visit Puerto Rico to volunteer in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. I am originally from Puerto Rico, so this trip meant a lot to me. Together with my Motorola Solutions team, we donated more than 1,000 radios to help coordinate rescue efforts. I traveled to the town of Loiza and visited nursing homes and orphanages to deliver food, water, toiletries and toys. It was an incredibly rewarding experience to be able to help this country.”
