Motorola Solutions Supporting NACo Resilient County Initiative

Motorola Solutions and the Motorola Solutions Foundation are supporting the National Association of Counties (NACo) as it launches a resilient counties initiative. The plan is aimed at working with counties and their stakeholders to bolster their ability to thrive amid changing physical, social and economic conditions. Details of the initiative will be discussed at the 2013 NACo Resiliency Forum in Linn County, Iowa. Motorola’s Jason Hutchens, solution engagement manager for the Global Solutions and Services team, will be part of a panel discussion at the conference on Dec. 6 titled, “Leveraging Technology Tools to Prepare for Threats”.

The session will focus on how new technologies, innovative mapping tools, mobile applications, social media and other tech resources can change how counties prepare for and recover from crisis situations. Hutchens has an extensive background in Homeland Security and has overseen numerous state-level disaster declarations and planning efforts. His presentation will focus on Motorola’s leadership in these areas and how Motorola’s expertise can help public safety officials turn information into intelligence and intelligence into safer cities and counties.

The Motorola Solutions Foundation has supported NACo with more than $200,000 in grant funding over the last five years. As many counties across the country face limited financial resources and pressure to do more with less, the Motorola Solutions Foundation has continued to invest in critical research and initiatives that will enable counties to learn from best practices. Motorola has an 85-year history of working with county officials across the country to help build safer communities which includes providing some of the first two-way radios for sheriffs, to offering broadband connectivity for video solutions and much more.
