Motorola Solutions Celebrates 90 Years of Innovation and Showcases Industry-leading Innovations at Mission Critical Technologies Africa, Cape Town
CAPE TOWN, South Africa – November 13, 2018 – Motorola Solutions celebrates 90 of innovation and unveils advanced mission-critical solutions for building safer cities at Mission Critical Technologies Africa 2018 (November 13, Cape Town, South Africa, stand A84). MCTA 2018 highlights include solutions for both public safety and commercial organizations, leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI), land mobile radio and broadband communications for creating a safer society.
Celebrating its 90th anniversary, Motorola Solutions boasts a wide range of innovations and accomplishments since established in 1928. These include mission critical communication solutions, and a number of industry leading milestones: from pioneering technologies in the 1930s like automobile radios and two-way radios for public safety, to delivering the communication system that carried mankind’s first words from the moon in 1969. The company has been a major leader of the communications revolution having launched the first commercial handheld cellular phone in 1983.
Today, mission-critical communication is more important than ever before. In times of natural disasters, terrorist attacks, mass demonstrations and increasing violence, public safety organizations need cutting-edge smart public safety solutions for fast and effective action. For the past 90 years, Motorola Solutions has provided customers with robust land mobile radio (LMR) solutions that are built to remain operational during large-scale events and natural disasters, enabling interoperability between responding agencies. Systems like the company’s Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) and project 25 (P25) serve as nationwide networks around the world.
“Connecting people through technology - particularly during critical moments - has always been our mission. Our customers rely daily on our expertise, services and solutions, trusting our years of experience and innovation,” said Tunde Williams, head of Marketing, Europe, Middle East and Africa at Motorola Solutions.
“AI powered solutions will have a significant impact on public safety,” adds Williams. “Intelligence Augmentation, Intelligence Platforms and Intelligence-as-a-Service will be main drivers for the public safety and commercial innovations in the future.”
NEW AT MCTA 2018
Digital Transformation of Public Safety
The complexity of crime is increasing and the need for efficient information sharing within and between different agencies has never been greater. With the increasing adoption of body-worn video and the growing number of information sources supporting public safety, a tipping point has been reached. If this valuable data cannot be utilized in real time, public safety organizations risk not knowing that critical piece of information that could change the outcome of an incident.
At MCTA 2018, Motorola Solutions is showcasing how public safety organizations can break down information silos and better enable their frontline officers and control room responders. With the next generation of Motorola Solutions’ Si500 body-worn cameras and the new LEX L11 LTE device, Motorola Solutions is presenting purpose-built devices that help frontline teams perform their best in the moments that matter.
Command Center Software from Motorola Solutions combines a unified, intuitive experience with intelligent capabilities, enabling control room operators to efficiently manage diverse data from an ever-increasing number of sources. Motorola Solutions will also give exclusive insights into its newly acquired end-to-end security platform from Avigilon, which brings high-quality video and Al-based analytics to public safety and commercial workflows. Other MCTA highlights include Motorola Solutions’ public safety apps suite featuring new applications like the Capture Mobile Camera app, which allows frontline teams to securely capture images, video and audio with a verifiable chain-of-custody from the moment of capture.
At MCTA 2018, Motorola Solutions will also present its vision of collaborative public safety and commercial workflows based on dedicated TETRA and LTE broadband devices. In a world with an increasing number of connected devices Motorola Solutions fosters the development of collaborative solutions because it believes it promotes flexibility, simplifies communications and reduces the risk of complex multipurpose devices. Therefore Motorola Solutions sees a clear market demand for interconnected devices, which support either TETRA or LTE broadband networks and communicate between themselves and with other equipment around them creating seamless communications across technologies.
A key component of Motorola Solutions’ collaborative solution portfolio is the new LEX L11 Mission Critical LTE device. In addition to offering a broad range of innovative features including an advanced end-to-end secure mobile platform, the LEX L11 collaborates seamlessly with other Bluetooth-enabled devices as part of a secure personal area network. This collaborative function allows users to get the best of both worlds – for example, users can benefit from the combined coverage of TETRA and Public Safety Broadband networks or use the LEX L11 as their primary user interface for both TETRA and LTE-based communications.
