‘Connected by Safety’, Latin America Children Learning How to Identify and Respond to Emergencies
- The "Connected by Safety" social responsibility program visits Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Mexico, providing children with the tools they need to recognize and prevent dangerous situations.
- Through fun workshops, they will learn how to respond to emergencies from public safety agencies, including police and fire departments.
This year, the program plans to conduct 115 workshops across Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Mexico, benefiting more than 60 schools and 6,700 children. Children will be taught how to recognize dangerous situations and identify the safety organization responsible for helping in each case, as well as their respective emergency telephone numbers. This program is running in 2019 based on a grant that was awarded in 2018.
"We live in a region with many challenges when it comes to safety, and there are many heroes working to keep us safe. Being able to introduce children to these heroes, who then use games to teach them how to ask for help in dangerous situations, is something that fills us with pride, because we feel that through Connected by Safety we are making a difference, helping to build a much safer region," says Patricia Kapusta, program coordinator on behalf of FORO 21.
Connected by Safety is a key program supported by Motorola Solutions Foundation in Latin America due to its strong focus on public safety education which engages youth with first responders and the impact the program makes throughout the region.
“Connected by Safety supports one of our main program focus areas: public safety education. With this program we are providing Latin America children with the tools they need to protect themselves and their close circle, aligned with our commitment to building safer cities,” affirms Monica Mueller, executive director of the Motorola Solutions Foundation.
