2013 Woman Law Enforcement Executive of the Year Award Recipient Announced

The Women Law Enforcement Executive of the Year (WoLLEY) Award is jointly sponsored by the National Association of Women Law Enforcement Executives (NAWLEE) and Motorola. NAWLEE has selected Inspector Ruth Roy of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for the honor this year. Jackie Wasni, vice president of Sales and Services for Motorola, established this award eleven years ago to recognize women in law enforcement who have succeeded in their own careers and dedicated themselves to mentoring and helping develop other female law enforcement professionals.

During the past 12 years as a Commissioned Officer, Roy has worked in a variety of positions at the provincial and national levels. Roy is currently a member of the Prime Minister’s Protection Detail where she and her team are responsible for coordinating security for the Prime Minister of Canada and his family both domestically and abroad. Before her recent appointment, Inspector Roy spent the last 10 years as an executive in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Mount Saint Vincent University in Business Administration. She began her law enforcement career in 1981.

Inspector Roy receives the award at the annual NAWLEE conference held in Denver, CO on August 2, 2013 with more than 200 nationwide leaders in attendance.
