10 Years Helping Sons and Daughters of Caribbean Police Officers Make Their Educational Dreams Come True
The ACCP-Motorola Solutions Foundation Scholarship Fund on its 10th anniversary ratifies its commitment to Caribbean region by awarding 15 new educational grants
Jamaica – May 2, 2018 – The Motorola Solutions Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Motorola Solutions (NYSE: MSI), is strengthening its support to the ACCP-Motorola Solutions Foundation Scholarship Fund, by awarding 5 more scholarship of the 10 granted in the past, for a total of 15 news scholarships; making a total of more than 85 scholarships since its inception.
This program provides Caribbean children with resources to continue their college or university studies in the targeted fields of study include engineering, communications, marketing, finance, industrial engineering, human resource management, criminology, and forensic science. These disciplines, said ACCP officials, are essential for the proper functioning of the day-to-day operations of police organizations and communities in general.
The ACCP and Motorola Solutions Foundation have worked together to assist the police in each of the member countries in the promotion and support of youth and community development programs.
"We are pleased to have the Motorola Solutions Foundation's support for the education of our Caribbean youth. This 10-year anniversary attests to the seriousness of the program and demonstrates a real commitment to our region and our youth's development. We hope to see even more professionals being instruments of positive change in our society and sources of pride for many years to come," said Michael DeSilva, Commissioner of the Bermuda Police Service and president of the ACCP.
The winners will be able to continue their education at certified colleges or universities, either in the Caribbean or at colleges or universities that are associated with the member countries. This includes Universities/Colleges in the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States and the Netherlands.
"Education is a cornerstone at the Motorola Solutions Foundation and we are especially proud to support this program because it is geared toward young people who can make positive changes in society but need the right tools to do so," said Matt Blakely, Executive Director of the Motorola Solutions Foundation.
“As a test of our firm commitment to the future of Caribbean youth and to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the scholarship program, this year we decided to increase our support by adding five new scholarships, for a total of 15 scholarships, so that more children of Caribbean Police commissioners and officers can become professionals.”
