The Public Transport Authority of Västmanland increases safety with TETRA equipment from Celab and Motorola Solutions
Motorola Solutions MTM5400 TETRA mobile radios provides extended coverage, exceptional audio performance and advanced data connectivity for Swedish public transport
Kungälv, Sweden, Oct 9, 2014 - Motorola Solutions, Inc. (NYSE: MSI) today announced that the Public Transport Authority of Västmanland is joining Sweden’s nationwide TETRA radio network (RAKEL). With Motorola’s TETRA radios and equipment improving communications coverage and providing greater accessibility for its vehicle fleet, the Public Transport Authority will gain better crisis management, increased security for staff and passengers, and more efficient day-to-day communications.
Public transport in the county of Västmanland has previously relied on an analogue radio system that at times lacked sufficient geographical coverage and audio quality. Recognising a potential security flaw in the old system, the Public Transport Authority issued a tender for RAKEL equipment. After evaluation, the contract was awarded to Celab Communications AB.
Key Facts
- In October, the public transport fleet will be equipped with Motorola MTM5400 TETRA mobile radio terminals. With the reach of the RAKEL network they will provide enhanced radio coverage throughout the county, with significant audio improvements and improved security features.
- The Celab Operator Platform dispatch solution will also be installed at the traffic control centre in Västerås. The system will provide continuous control of the fleet and the ability to receive alarms with GPS positions directly from vehicles.
- The contract also includes a number of handheld Motorola TETRA radio terminals, installation and other related services.
