Motorola Solutions Wins 3 TETRA Radio Terminal Tenders For Norwegian Public Safety, Voluntary Organisations
OSLO, Norway – Nov. 22, 2013 – Motorola Solutions (NYSE: MSI), a leading provider of mission-critical communications solutions, has been selected to deliver Terrestrial Trunked Radios (TETRA) digital radio terminals to Norway’s Voluntary Rescue Organisations as well as the Norwegian Fire and Health agencies in the latest tenders from the Norwegian Directorate for Emergency Communication (DNK).
The selection of Motorola Solutions’ devices follows a process wherein users from both services tested devices from all vendors in real-life situations. Motorola Solutions radios were the first choice for users because of their superior voice quality, ruggedness and user friendliness.
The three agreements cover the delivery of four radio models, including 5000 units for the Norwegian Fire Service and 2000 for Paramedics and the Health Service as part of phases 2 and 3 of the Nødnett project, and an additional 1900 units for Norway’s Voluntary and Rescue Services, which Motorola won together with its partner TC Connect.
DNK and users have chosen the new TETRA handheld MTP3200 and MTP3250 digital radios, as well as the MTM5400 and MTM5500 vehicle mobile radios. With this decision Norway’s Fire and Health users are joining over 2 million users around the world who trust TETRA digital radios from Motorola in mission critical situations.

- Motorola Solutions Norway is also the prime contractor for Norwegian nationwide TETRA Nødnett project including all managed services for the roll out and implementation of the system.
- The radios will be delivered within the Nødnett phase 2 for Paramedics and Health Services in five counties covering 775 000 inhabitants.
- With the latest win for Fire services, Motorola radios will be rolled out for Nødnett phases 1, 2 and 3 covering 203 municipalities and 13 counties serving over 2 million inhabitants.
- The Voluntary and Rescue Organisations work closely with the emergency services and consist of nine countrywide organizations, including Red Cross and Sea Rescue.
