Motorola Solutions Unveils Weatherproof TALKABOUT® Consumer Two-Way Radios at 2012 SHOT Show
LAS VEGAS – SHOT show – Jan. 17, 2012 – Today at the 2012 SHOT show – Motorola Solutions, Inc. (NYSE:MSI) introduced its new series of consumer TALKABOUT® two-way radios featuring a weatherproof design and Talkabout Clear for enhanced audio capabilities. The MT350R, MT352TPR and MT352R two-way radios combine powerful communications, as well as enhanced practical features to provide hunters optimal performance and durability for extended use in the outdoors.
Weatherproof, Convenient Features Maximize Outdoor Performance
The Motorola Talkabout MT series of two-way radios are weatherproof and engineered to withstand the effects of rain, snow and other wet conditions, while maintaining reliable communications. The radios meet IP54 weatherproof standards, withstanding splashing water and dust from any direction. In the event of an approaching storm, everyone in the field can stay informed of changing weather conditions with access to seven National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and four Environment Canada (EC) weather channels, which provide continuous broadcasts of local and regional weather updates. 1 And, with the weather scan feature, hunters can be assured of easily finding an active weather channel, providing updates on emergency alerts including tornadoes, winter storms, severe thunderstorms, flash floods, emergency evacuations and Amber Alerts.
Additionally, the MT series offers a new dual watch feature, which simultaneously monitors activity on two channels, so hunters can stay on top of the hunters out in the field and what’s happening back at the base camp simultaneously. For added convenience and nighttime tree stand safety, there is an emergency alert button and built-in LED flashlight.
Robust Clear Connections for Serious Hunting Adventures
Hunters can enjoy clear connections and peace-of-mind in any setting with a reliable communication tool featuring Motorola’s Push-to-Talk (PTT) power boost option. When activated, this feature can extend the transmission range by increasing the transmitter power output – while helping save battery life when no power boost is necessary. The MT series also features Talkabout Clear which provides improved audio performance for clearer transmissions at higher volume by reducing distortion with a Class D amplifier.
Serious hunters and outdoorsmen will appreciate the VibraCall™ function, which silently alerts them to incoming transmissions by vibrating without disturbing game. And, when it is imperative to minimize movement, the iVOX speech activated feature allows for convenient hands-free communication.
Eco Smart and Enhanced Charging Capabilities for Greater Flexibility
The Motorola Talkabout MT series of two-way radios are the first to be designated Eco Smart, which means they utilize low-energy consumption. The unique design of the MT series uses a high-efficiency wall adapter, which consumes less power during idle conditions. They also feature a mini-USB charging port with fast charge capabilities, making it easier than ever to charge quickly on the go. The radios can be charged utilizing a desktop charger, from a PC when no power outlet is available using a mini-USB PC cable or with standard alkaline batteries. (Desktop charger, mini-USB car and PC cables are sold separately.)
The MT series is the first in Motorola’s consumer two-way line up to feature extended battery life capabilities, doubling the amount of battery capacity, which is imperative to hunters tracking game for long periods or for extended expeditions. The Motorola Talkabout MT352R and MT352TPR radios come standard with the extended life battery providing up to 15 hours of talk time. It is also available on the Motorola Talkabout MT350R as an optional accessory.
