Motorola Solutions renews support for critical public safety and crime fighting organisations in Australia

MELBOURNE, Australia – Feb 7, 2014 – The Motorola Solutions Foundation (MSF), the charitable and philanthropic arm of Motorola Solutions, Inc. (NYSE: MSI) is pleased to announce its renewal of support for the Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council (AFAC) and Crime Stoppers Victoria.

In 2014, MSF will fund the AFAC Knowledge Event Series and AFAC Knowledge Innovation Awards Program in Australia and New Zealand, providing professional development and knowledge sharing opportunities for fire and emergency services personnel, and awarding organisations and individuals for their outstanding contributions.

It will also fund Crime Stoppers Victoria’s Community Crime Prevention Program that raises community awareness around key crime-related issues and facilitates anonymous online and telephonic reporting of criminal activity to law enforcement authorities.

  • This year marks the fifth and 10th year of Motorola Solutions support for AFAC and Crime Stoppers Victoria respectively, following highly successful programs in 2013.
  • MSF’s support of Crime Stoppers Victoria helped deliver five separate campaigns aimed at curbing and reporting violence amongst young men, reporting information relating to bushfire arson, protecting our borders, and reporting on drug activity and local crime.
  • In 2013, Crime Stoppers Victoria recorded its most successful year to date with more than 1,000 arrests.
  • MSF's support of AFAC in 2013 enabled the organisation to host a series of nine events to promote knowledge amongst its agency members, which would otherwise not be financially viable, increasing the incident management capabilities of fire and emergency services personnel across Australia.

Stuart Ellis, chief executive officer, AFAC
“AFAC is delighted that Motorola Solutions is once again supporting the Knowledge Event Series and Knowledge Innovation Awards. This series is a wonderful professional development opportunity for our sector, increasing the capacity of fire and emergency services personnel through the sharing of national and international best practice.”

Sam Hunter, chief executive officer, Crime Stoppers Victoria
"Funding from the Motorola Solutions Foundation is absolutely critical to the ongoing success of Crime Stoppers Victoria. Celebrating a 10 year partnership between Crime Stoppers and Motorola Solutions shows an extraordinary commitment toward public safety. We are thrilled that Motorola Solutions continues to be our premier partner in making Victoria a safer place".

"Crime Stoppers has achieved record results in 2013 and we could not have done so without the continued support of Motorola Solutions. The best partnerships work because of a shared vision and passion. At Crime Stoppers Victoria we believe that our premier partner, Motorola Solutions is as equally committed to creating a safer community as we are".

Steven Crutchfield, managing director, Motorola Solutions Australia and New Zealand
“The ongoing and successful sponsorships contribute towards a number of key initiatives designed to encourage community support for each organisation and increase public awareness for the critical work they do. Both AFAC and Crime Stoppers perform very different yet equally critical roles in our community – roles that closely mirror the principles our Foundation was created to support.”

Matt Blakely, director, Motorola Solutions Foundation
“Motorola Solutions and the Motorola Solutions Foundation have been supporting first responders and the public safety community for decades. We’re proud to once again support these programs that are helping Australia’s public safety professionals keep people and children in Australia safe from harm.”
