Motorola Solutions renews support for critical public safety and crime fighting organisations in Australia
MELBOURNE, Australia – Feb 7, 2014 – The Motorola Solutions Foundation (MSF), the charitable and philanthropic arm of Motorola Solutions, Inc. (NYSE: MSI) is pleased to announce its renewal of support for the Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council (AFAC) and Crime Stoppers Victoria.
In 2014, MSF will fund the AFAC Knowledge Event Series and AFAC Knowledge Innovation Awards Program in Australia and New Zealand, providing professional development and knowledge sharing opportunities for fire and emergency services personnel, and awarding organisations and individuals for their outstanding contributions.
It will also fund Crime Stoppers Victoria’s Community Crime Prevention Program that raises community awareness around key crime-related issues and facilitates anonymous online and telephonic reporting of criminal activity to law enforcement authorities.
KEY FACTS
- This year marks the fifth and 10th year of Motorola Solutions support for AFAC and Crime Stoppers Victoria respectively, following highly successful programs in 2013.
- MSF’s support of Crime Stoppers Victoria helped deliver five separate campaigns aimed at curbing and reporting violence amongst young men, reporting information relating to bushfire arson, protecting our borders, and reporting on drug activity and local crime.
- In 2013, Crime Stoppers Victoria recorded its most successful year to date with more than 1,000 arrests.
- MSF's support of AFAC in 2013 enabled the organisation to host a series of nine events to promote knowledge amongst its agency members, which would otherwise not be financially viable, increasing the incident management capabilities of fire and emergency services personnel across Australia.
