COLOGNE/IDSTEIN, Germany – November 28, 2017 – Motorola Solutions provides Koelnmesse with its state-of-the-art MOTOTRBO Capacity Max trunked radio system. The prestigious exhibition centre in Cologne is the first customer for Motorola Solutions’ DMR Tier III compliant trunking solution in Germany. The high-performance system replaces the existing analogue radio infrastructure and supports the company in realizing its future-oriented project Koelnmesse 3.0. It enables instant, reliable voice and data communications, better decision-making and seamless coordination across the entire exhibition area. Powerful management tools give users complete control over the system – all from a single workstation. The new MOTOTRBO Capacity Max trunked radio system is being implemented in collaboration with Motorola Solutions’ partners AIRadio and NC Plan.
The new radio system will enable secure and reliable voice and data communications for the exhibition centre’s security personnel, facility management and technical teams, including the operation of 150 radios. Motorola Solutions’ highly advanced technology is designed for next-generation digital trunking demands and will thus meet Koelnmesse’s requirements today and in the future. MOTOTRBO Capacity Max is scalable from small, single-site systems to large, complex projects that demand greater capacity (up to 3,000 users per site) and higher levels of performance from voice and data-intensive communications deployments. The feature-rich, next-generation system also provides better security and is easier to manage than comparable trunking systems.
Due to its DMR Tier III compliance, it supports the features defined for interoperability. In addition, MOTOTRBO Capacity Max goes beyond the core interoperability of the DMR Standard to provide enhanced functionality. This includes features and applications such as digital emergency-call handling, call queuing prioritization and over-the-air programming that enable Koelnmesse to offer the best possible service to its visitors, exhibitors and partners. Moreover, the MOTOTRBO Capacity Max trunked radio system is built on a hybrid architecture for maximum performance and efficiency. Control is centralised, but voice and data traffic routing is distributed for optimal cost and performance. Security is another core component of the MOTOTRBO Capacity Max trunked radio system. All voice, data and control traffic within the IP network can be encrypted, and all radios are securely authenticated. The users can even remotely disable and re-enable a device if it is misplaced or stolen.
“MOTOTRBO Capacity Max blends innovation, user feedback and our extensive real-world experience to deliver a scalable, highly secure trunked radio communications solution that perfectly meets the needs of our customers,” said Joerg Baumbach, director of sales Radio Channel Business Central & South Europe, Motorola Solutions Germany GmbH. “The features and functionality of MOTOTRBO Capacity Max provide Koelnmesse 3.0 with the flexibility to expand networks and applications to meet their evolving needs. The customer will also benefit from our smooth migration path from analogue to digital to minimize cost and operational impact for their digitalization project.”
“Koelnmesse is one of the most important global trade fair venues with a longstanding history of more than 90 years,” said Ludger Wälken, head of central division at Koelnmesse 3.0. “With our project Koelnmesse 3.0 we are striving to create the world’s most appealing inner-city exhibition centre. The new MOTOTRBO Capacity Max trunked radio system from Motorola Solutions will enable us to meet the changing requirements of our visitors, exhibitors and partners for many years to come. A secure and reliable communication is the key for the digitalization of our infrastructure and processes.”
Within the framework of the project Koelnmesse 3.0, the company plans to invest more than 600 million euros by 2030 to align the exhibition centre and the infrastructure with the requirements of the trade fair business in the coming years. Based on the changing customer demand, the investment program Koelnmesse 3.0 focuses on boosting the quality of the existing trade fair areas, optimizing the versatility of the exhibition grounds as well as integrating the trade fair and congress services into a future-oriented business model.
