Motorola Solutions Marks 10 Year Anniversary of IMPRES™ Battery Patented Technology

SCHAUMBURG, Ill – June 14, 2011 – Motorola Solutions, Inc. (NYSE: MSI) today celebrates the 10-year anniversary of its patented IMPRES two-way radio battery and charger technology. The portfolio has expanded to include more than 40 battery and charger products. Software enhancements such as IMPRES Battery Fleet Management and Battery Data Reader allow the user to see real time and historical battery usage, while also helping budget planning for replacement batteries.

KEY FACTS
• IMPRES batteries store and communicate data to their chargers through a unique communication protocol designed to increase talk-time and battery life. This leads to enhanced safety and productivity and can maximize return on investment for customers.
• Madison, Wis. was the first IMPRES customer. During the past 10 years the city has purchased nearly 4,000 IMPRES batteries representing 84 percent of its total two-way radio battery portfolio.
• The first IMPRES batteries were for the Motorola ASTRO® Saber radios. We now offer a portfolio of batteries for all of our major radio platforms including MOTOTRBO™, APX™, XTS™ series and HT Professional Series. The technology has been expanded to include new chargers with displays, a dual-unit charger and new battery management applications such as IMPRES Battery Data Reader and IMPRES Battery Fleet Management.
• IMPRES chargers use technology that avoids overcharging. Additionally, single-unit IMPRES chargers with external power supplies consume 40 percent less energy in standby mode than required by the U.S. Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007.
