Motorola Solutions’ Bill Cate and Mike deVente Recognized as CRN 2014 Channel Chiefs

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – Feb. 24, 2014 – Motorola Solutions, Inc. (NYSE: MSI), a leading provider of mission-critical communication solutions and services for enterprise and government customers, announced today that Bill Cate, senior director of global channel strategy, programs and sales operations, and Mike deVente, vice president of enterprise channels, mid-market and emerging vertical sales, have been named two of CRN’s 2014 Channel Chiefs. This prestigious list of the most powerful leaders in the IT channel recognizes those executives directly responsible for driving channel sales and growth within their organizations, while evangelizing the importance of the channel throughout the entire IT Industry.

CRN Channel Chiefs were selected by the CRN editorial team based on channel experience, program innovations, channel-driven revenue, and public support for the importance of IT channel sales.

Bill Cate strengthened Motorola’s worldwide PartnerEmpower™ program through initiatives that standardized partner participation criteria globally, increased access to more technologies and streamlined certification requirements. He also launched a new program designed to drive a joint sales and growth strategy to penetrate new accounts and markets with partners. In addition, he led the successful integration of approximately 1,200 Psion channel partners into a new Industrial Mobile Computing segment within PartnerEmpower.

Mike deVente helped create sales teams focused on the identification and development of emerging verticals and applications while aligning business development and technical resources to increase channel adoption and partner profitability. He also introduced more comprehensive value for vertically focused partners and was instrumental in forging an ecosystem of enterprise applications for the Android™ operating system through Motorola’s RhoElements application development framework – enabling partners to offer choice and alternatives in a multi-operating system world.

“We are pleased to highlight the many executives throughout the industry who work tirelessly to advance the standing of the channel community within their organizations. The CRN Channel Chief honorees lead, inspire and engage peers and serve as valuable advocates to help ensure the health and longevity of the channel within the IT industry. We applaud their efforts and look forward to their continued success,” said Robert Faletra, CEO, The Channel Company.

“On behalf of the entire Motorola Solutions channel organization, Bill and I are honored to be recognized as Channel Chiefs,” said deVente. “We remain committed to making it easier than ever for partners to build their relationships with Motorola, and PartnerEmpower will continue to evolve to help our partners gain traction in the market and grow their businesses.”
