At the Intersection of Safety and Productivity: The Business-Critical Technologies West African Industries Can Build on

Motorola Solutions presents Broadband push-to-talk and AI-powered video security platform designed to enhance employee safety and productivity in industries such as manufacturing and security

DAKAR, SENEGAL – February 13, 2020 – Motorola Solutions Inc. (NYSE: MSI), a global leader in mission-critical communications, offers West African industries enhanced safety and productivity with the launch of new broadband push-to-talk (PTT) and video security solutions. The newly launched products and services include an on-premises implementation of the company’s WAVE broadband PTT communication solution, as well as an AI-powered Avigilon video security platform, all available through an experienced network of partners across West Africa.

“Our wide range of push-to-talk communications and video security solutions are purpose-built and highly scalable to fit the different needs of various mission-critical operations. Whether it’s a small manufacturing factory or a large mining operation, we have the right solution,” said Laurent Tribout, director of Motorola Solutions indirect sales for Sub-Saharan Africa  “Building on over 50 years of experience across Africa and on our trusted partner network, we provide service and support for our high-quality products to ensure customer satisfaction.”

WAVE: BROADBAND PUSH-TO-TALK FOR BUSINESS-CRITICAL OPERATIONS

WAVE is a carrier-independent, mission-critical push-to-talk (MCPTT) based PTT communication solution, with an on-premises deployment option specially designed for small- to medium-size operations of up to 3,000 users. It allows workers to easily communicate in groups or one-to-one with a push of a button, regardless of the devices or networks they’re on.

The system offers PTT communications, with the ability to share details via text, photo, video or file attachment, and can integrate with the organization’s existing digital two-way radio system. Features include group calls, private calls, call alerts and app support for both Android and iOS. Considering the space limitation typical for small to medium enterprises, the WAVE on-premises deployment is designed to have a small footprint of only one server.

The on-premises implementation of WAVE is the latest addition to Motorola Solutions’ WAVE portfolio -- the company’s carrier-independent MCPTT standards-based broadband push-to-talk solution that offers seamless interoperability between users on land mobile radio systems and those on 5G, 4G and 3G cellular networks. WAVE instantly connects teams across different devices, networks and locations -- no matter which technology they are using. The WAVE PTT Mobile App, which can be downloaded from Apple’s App Store or Google Play, makes the speed and simplicity of professional radio group communication available on a user’s smartphone or tablet.

An additional WAVE Dispatch Application provides centralized, web-based dispatching for simplified day-to-day operations by ensuring that teams have all the information they need. Regardless of their location, users can log in from any Internet connection and get access to all the communication tools they need to manage their resources and coordinate an effective operation.

AI-POWERED VIDEO SECURITY SOLUTIONS FOR ENHANCED SAFETY AND EFFICIENCY
Manufacturing processes evolve and on-site operations become increasingly automated. Although beneficial, operations still need to be monitored, many times remotely. Motorola Solutions’ Avigilon video security solutions include an AI-powered video platform that can dramatically improve safety and security across numerous industries. The platform features a wide range of HD cameras equipped with advanced self-learning video analytics that provide instant alerts on unusual activities. It allows for easy monitoring of on-site operations and machinery in industries like mining for improved safety and efficiency.

The advanced video platform also can enhance e the security of employees providing predefined automated alerts as workers enter potentially hazardous areas. Other features for enhanced physical security include Appearance Search™, an AI-based search engine for video. Appearance Search sorts through hours of video with ease, to quickly locate a specific person or vehicle of interest across an entire site, or multiple sites that are connected to the same control center.

Avigilon’s platform also allows increased productivity by combining video and analytics software: video analytics can find critical information and anomalies that human security operators may otherwise overlook. It can also help industrial workers use data to anticipate and help prevent incidents, rather than reacting and responding as they occur.
