Motorola Solutions delivers 200,000th TETRA radio terminal to German public safety authorities

Major milestone for Motorola Solutions worldwide and for the introduction of TETRA in Germany

WEILHEIM/IDSTEIN, Germany – October 8, 2014 – Motorola Solutions (NYSE: MSI), a leading provider of mission-critical communications solutions, has delivered its 200,000th TETRA digital radio terminal to German public safety organisations. The 200,000th radio terminal was delivered in Bavaria, where Motorola Solutions’ partner abel & käufl Mobilfunkhandels GmbH has won the tender for the districts of Weilheim-Schongau, Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen and Garmisch-Partenkirchen for the delivery of 5,000 TETRA radio terminals and corresponding service and support.

To mark this important milestone, Christoph Thomas, managing director of Motorola Solutions in Germany, handed over a specially created MTP850 radio emblazoned with the Bavarian crest to the representatives of the district authorities Weilheim-Schongau, Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen and Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The TETRA digital radio solutions will be used by the fire departments and security services of the three districts to enable secure and reliable communication of the emergency services.

Until today, Motorola Solutions sold more than 2 million TETRA terminals worldwide, confirming its technology and market leadership in digital radio communications for public safety. Since the first tender was issued in 2009, Motorola has delivered digital radio solutions - equipment, associated management and services - to the security forces in Berlin, Brandenburg, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia, enabling secure and reliable digital radio communications for the federal security organisations. The entire portfolio Motorola offers to German customer is certified by BDBOS, attesting that the devices meet highest performance and security standards.
