MISSION CRITICAL COMMUNICATIONS. When it comes to planning, deploying and maintaining the mission critical networks the police, fire & rescue and emergency medical organisations rely on to keep both you and them safe there is no one with more experience than Motorola Solutions. And in Norway, Motorola Solutions is partnering with the Norwegian government to supply just such a network.

Whilst Norway is not the biggest or most densely populated country in the world the deployment is by no means straightforward. The challenges include delivering cost effective nationwide coverage in a country with the second lowest population density in Europe and a geography that stretches to the northern most reaches of Europe, well into the Arctic Circle. And not surprisingly the areas in the arctic have their own challenges including biting cold and heavy snow for 3 or more months a year – placing special challenges on equipment and deployment and maintenance processes.

We also wanted to partner with a company that has designed and deployed similar systems, with public safety at the heart of its business, and that assumed full responsibility for performance and network operation post-deployment. The deployment and maintenance challenges are just part of the story. The Nodnett Network whilst providing the highest levels or availability also needs to deliver value for money for Norwegian taxpayers. Again Motorola Solutions stepped up to the mark with an agreement that provides Norway’s Directorate for Emergency Communications with a predictable cost tied to a stringent service level, delivering that all important value for money and quality assurance.
